February 4, 1863: Ate Two Suppers
Diary Entry:
Last night was one of the coldest we have experienced this winter. this morning I made my breakfast on the remains of our bean soup, and then hied [sic] away to the new Camp ground. worked all day, and at night returned and eat two suppers and finished off with a mince pie.

More Information:
Cyrus seemed to be making more mention of his meals during his entries in the winter of 1863. We’re not sure whether his increased interest in food was the result his settling into camp life or if it was because of General Hooker’s attempts to improve and increase soldiers’ rations and morale.

Who was Cyrus Forwood?
