While encamped at Camp Wilkes,  the 2nd Delaware began printing a paper called The Regimental Flag from a local printing office in Drummondtown. The newspaper included reports from other fronts of the war,  updates from Wilmington and other towns in the region, and news and gossip from camp.

The Regimental Flag reported the following related to Cyrus receiving his pay on Thursday, February 6, 1862:

MONEY SENT HOME.–The Chaplain of our regiment, Rev. George M. Condron, left Camp on Monday with a large amount of money sent home by the men of the Second Delaware. We have no doubt but that the hearts of their families will rejoice upon its arrival.
